Z9711 .56-52 Spencer Rimfire Cartridge

Description: Nice example of an early .56-52 Spencer rimfire cartridge. The .56-52 (also known as the No. 52 rimfire) cartridge was introduced in early 1865. This example may represent an early commercial offering by the Dominion Cartridge Company of Canada.

The round features a flat-tipped bullet with a single exposed knurled grease groove (cannelure). The bullet is roll-crimped into a copper case that is slightly tapered or very mildly bottlenecked.

This cartridge could be chambered in both the M1860 Spencer carbine and rifle, as well as the M1865 carbine. This example shows light oxidation on the bullet and a few spots on the copper case. A solid early representative example of this classic commercial rimfire cartridge.
