Z9929 .50-70 Cartridge by E. Remington & Sons
Description: Nice example of a .50-70 cartridge manufactured by E. Remington & Sons of Ilion, New York. This example features the typical rounded head with a thickness of approximately .071 inches. Cartridges of this type could be used in a variety of arms, including U.S. military rifles, converted Sharps rifles, and Remington firearms such as the Rolling Block variants.

The cartridge is loaded with a flat-nose lead bullet seated in a brass case and fitted with a brass primer. Notably, the case on this example is slightly shorter than typically encountered for this type.

The bullet exhibits very light oxidation, while the brass case shows spotting and has darkened with age. On one side, a clearly visible outline remains from a previously affixed sticker.
