Scarce .38 Short Rimfire Cartridge – International Trading Co. Inc.
Z9937 Scarce .38 Short Rimfire Cartridge – International Trading Co. Inc.
Description: Nice example of a scarce rimfire cartridge associated with the International Trading Company Inc. of Brockton, Massachusetts. It is believed that these cartridges were manufactured for this company by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut, and marketed internationally.
The cartridge features a round-nose lead bullet with two knurled cannelures seated in a copper case, with the lower cannelure being noticeably wider than the upper. Of particular interest is the rare impressed headstamp "R.”
This is the finest example I have had. The bullet is slightly canted in the case, noted for accuracy. The copper case has developed a darkened tone with some scattered spotting consistent with age.
A scarce and desirable rimfire cartridge associated with the International Trading Co. Inc. of Massachusetts.
