M002 Empty .50-70 Benet-Primed Blank Cartridge – Iron Cup
Description: Decent example of an early empty .50-70 internally Benet-primed blank cartridge manufactured by Frankford Arsenal. This specimen is absent its powder charge and wad, allowing a clear view of the tinned iron cup seated in the base of the case. The cup is retained by two sidewall crimps located approximately .255” forward of the head, with a spacing of about .186” between them.

Based on these construction characteristics, this example likely dates to a production window between March 1868 and August 1870. The copper case has darkened with age and shows scattered spotting, consistent with its age. Overall, it remains a solid representative example of an early Benet-primed .50-70 blank cartridge.
