M005 Early .50-70 Martin-Primed Commercial Cartridge - UMC
Description: Scarce example of a .50-70-450 Martin-primed commercial cartridge manufactured by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company (U.M.C.) of Bridgeport, Connecticut. This specimen features a flat-nosed, belted lead bullet roll crimped into an elongated copper case measuring approximately 1.821” in length. The case is cylindrically throated, extending roughly .739” down from the mouth.

The head is of folded construction and incorporates a re-entrant fold for added strength, a characteristic feature of early U.M.C. manufacture. The central primer has a rounded profile, consistent with Martin-primed commercial production. This represents a very early and seldom encountered commercial variant.

The case shows a few spots, along with a dent where the throat meets the body and a small adjacent ding to the upper right. Overall, this remains a scarce and difficult example to find from U.M.C.
