M096 Robin Hood .22 Short Ammunition Box – Swaged Bullets
Description: Excellent and rare box of .22 Short rimfire cartridges manufactured by the Robin Hood Ammunition Company of Swanton, Vermont. The Robin Hood Powder Company was reorganized as the Robin Hood Ammunition Company in September 1906, placing this example in the early years of production. According to Vest Hobbs, this style predates the company’s more commonly encountered later labels.
This example consists of a two-piece buff box with a blue wrap-around label printed in black. The label is cut on both ends, and the contents remain original. The top label reads:
"50 SHORT .22 RIM FIRE CARTRIDGES SWAGED BULLETS ROBIN HOOD AMMUNITION COMPANY SWANTON, VT.”
Both end labels are marked: ".22 CAL. SHORT RIM FIRE.”
Condition is excellent, with a well-centered and fully legible top label. The bottom shows typical shelf wear but remains intact and solid. A scarce and desirable early .22 Short rimfire box from this highly sought-after manufacturer.
