M105 .50-70 Farrington Primed Cartridge – U.S.C.Co.
Description: Nice example of a .50-70 Government rifle cartridge manufactured by the United States Cartridge Company. This round features a flat-nose lead bullet seated in a brass case and is fitted with the distinctive concave Farrington primer system.
The Farrington primer was patented by De Witt Clinton Farrington on December 17, 1872, under U.S. Patent No. 133,929, and represents an important improvement in early metallic cartridge ignition systems used during the post–Civil War transition period.
This cartridge remains in nice condition, with the bullet showing light oxidation and the brass case exhibiting an even patina with a few scattered spots. A solid example of the .50-70-450 Government cartridge produced by U.S.C.Co.
