M133 Winchester .22 Automatic Rimfire Ammunition with Smokeless Powder – Pre-1906
Description: Nice, full, and sealed box of .22 Winchester Automatic cartridge ammunition manufactured by Winchester Repeating Arms Company for use in the Winchester Model 1903. These proprietary cartridges were specifically developed for the Model 1903 rifle and represent one of the earliest commercially successful semi-automatic rimfire systems. This example is an early pre-1906 issue.
The box is the desirable two-piece split-half style with a multicolored top label and side seal. The label features an attractive yellow, red, and blue color scheme with black, red, and white printing. Beneath the red banner appears the marking "TRADE MARKS REGISTERED IN U.S.A.” in small black print.
The cartridges are loaded with flat-nose greaseless lead bullets featuring a single cannelure, housed in copper cases with an impressed "H” headstamp.
The box itself shows typical shelf wear with light to moderate soiling. The colors are slightly faded but still display well, and there are a few minor flea bites on the labels. Overall, a decent and increasingly difficult-to-find example of an early pre-1906 sealed Winchester automatic rifle cartridge box.
