Z8654 Scarce Massachusetts Arms Company Maynard Tape Roll
Description: Nice, clean example of a Maynard tape primer roll manufactured by the Massachusetts Arms Company of Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts. This is the smaller roll variant consisting of approximately 36 caps held together with a twist of paper. These were used in the revolvers and single shot pistols manufactured by the Massachusetts Arms Company.

These were originally housed in a tin tube with a brass cap on the bottom and a brass lid bearing the September 22, 1845, patent date along with the company name. It’s important to note that there are at least two versions of the revolver primer tubes. Both variants are approximately .950” in diameter. The short variation is approximately 1.914” in length and the long version is slightly over 3” in overall length.

These are much scarcer than their Frankford Arsenal manufactured counterparts wrapped in a brown waxy paper. This roll would make an excellent addition to any cased set or early primer collection.
