Description: Nice, excavated button that is more than likely a water recovery. The shank is missing on this example but the backmark and pewter are in very nice condition. This was produced by Charles Hebbert & Co. Tice states that this company was listed as C. Hebbert & Company from 1840 until 1852 when the name changed over to Hebbert & Company. Charles Hebbert later went on to produce artillery, infantry, and navy buttons for the Confederacy during the American Civil War.
