Z4568 Rare Box for .58 Joslyn Rim-Fire Carbine Cartridges U.M.C.
Description: Here is a very nice empty box that once contained 20 .58 rimfire cartridges for the .58 Joslyn Carbine. It was produced by the Union Metallic Cartridge Company of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Based on information from John Barber's book, this box would post-date 1885 when the impressed "U" headstamp started to be used. This box is in exceptional condition considering its age and is lightly soiled. There are no repairs to the box all and the lid has one slightly rough corner. One interesting piece about this box is the label. You can clearly see that there is a darker label under the main label. This may be an earlier style label but it would be hard to prove without damaging the box. You would be hard pressed to upgrade this example and it would look great sitting next to your .58 Joslyn carbine with a few loose rounds!!!
Measures Approximately: 3.5" x 3" x 1.25"
