Description: Here is an excellent example of an imported P-53 Enfield cartridge. These were imported through the blockade and into the South. This example still has the green band that reads, " E. & A. LUDLOW / BIRMINGHAM." There is still a little tallow on the end with the bullet. E. & A. Ludlow produced large quantities of cartridges which is evidenced by excavated bullets with cavity markings of L, L1, and L2.
