Z4717 Very Rare Leg Iron/Handcuff/Manacle by Elijah Rickard of Shepherdstown, VA/WV

Description: Here is a very rare single leg iron/handcuff manufactured by Elijah Jackman Rickard of Shepherdstown, Virginia (West Virginia as of June 1863). This example is out of an old local collection of screw locks and is missing the key. The internal mechanism is in the locked position. While this example does not have a key, I do know a local blacksmith that has made several keys for the Rickard Locks. I'd be happy to put you in touch with him. Elijah's locks are highly sought after by lock collectors due to the fact that they were used on the abolitionist John Brown.
