I will be attending the Baltimore Antique Arms Show on March 22nd. If there is something you would like me to bring, please let me know!
Z5255 Civil War Era Cutlass or Bayonet Frog
Description: Here is a crudely manufactured cutlass or bayonet frog manufactured in blackened buff leather. The leather is well worn and consistently thin throughout the entire piece. I took this frog to the Gettysburg show and the consensus was that it's a generic frog for use with a Naval cutlass or perhaps a Dahlgren bowie knife. The belt loop measures 2.25" in height. There is an open slot at the bottom portion to fit a scabbard hook. The top portion of the lower section measures 2.5" while the lower opening measures 2" in length. The leather is pliable and this does fit a Dahlgren bowie scabbard. The stitching is intact and tight where the belt loop is attached. The stitching on the lower portion is loose toward the top edges and tight from the midsection towards the bottom.
Measures: OAL 8" x W 3.75"
