Z5516 Civil War Sword Knot (E. Gaylord)

Description: Decent Civil War sword knot used by both the Cavalry and Artillery. This example still retains both the sliding keepers. The leather fringe on the end has seen better days. The leather is still supple with some crazing and flaking throughout. This piece is marked, "E.Gaylord / Chicopee / Mass.” on the side. There is white spotting throughout which is the crystallization of fat left during the tanning process. This can be reduced by cleaning with a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water.

Measures: OAL 19” x W 1” strap
