Z5560 .50-55-430 Carbine Cartridge, M1870 Carbine (1872-1873)
Description: Very nice cartridge used in conjunction with the Springfield M1870 carbine. These cartridges were manufactured at the Frankford Arsenal between January 1872 and August of 1873. They are internally Benet-primed centerfire cartridges with a copper cup. Each cartridge contains 55 grains of black powder with a 430-grain projectile. To reduce the recoil, the powder charge was reduced by 15 grains and the bullet was reduced by 20 grains. An excellent Indian War cartridge!
