Z5632 Very Scarce Box by Winchester for the .56-52 Spencer Carbine
Description: Scarce box for the .56-52 Spencer carbine manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company of New Haven, Connecticut. This box is rare but there are some issues. Overall, the box is original except for the rear backside panel of the lid. All other components are of the original pasteboard with buff white paper covering. Unfortunately, it appears that most seams were split. In order to preserve the box, someone used paper packaging tape on three sides of the lid, all four sides of the main box, as well as the bottom. The inside of the lid has been taped on all four seams. This could be restored but it would take some time and patience.

Regardless, this is a very scarce box that did survive the test of time. The label is correct and has the incorrect Stetson’s Patent date which is common. The correct patent date is actually October 31, 1871. Originally, there would have been six sleaves containing 7 .56-52 Spencers with the raised "H” headstamp within an impressed circle. All of the contents are gone.
