Z5730 Sturtevant Flat Anvil, 12A, U.M.C.Co.
Description: Very nice example of one of U.M.C.’s Sturtevant flat anvil shotshells. The flat anvil is pinned from the inside. You can expose it in order to set your primer and push it back in with a friction fit. Frederickson and Nedza say this takes a .175 SPC primer. The headstamp is a little light on the word Bridgeport but everything else is crisp.
Headstamp: "U.M.C. CO BRIDGEPORT CONN. / 12A”
Measures: OAL 2.590”
Reference: "Rare and Unusual Shotshells in the United States” Frederickson/Nedza Pg. 199 (Ca. 1873+)
