Z5852 .44 S&W Russian Buck Shot Cartridge, Phoenix
Description: Very nice cartridge for the .44 Smith & Wesson Model 3 "Russian” revolver. This is the scarcer multi-ball cartridge known as the "Buck Shot” cartridge. It contains three slightly flattened shot held within a green paper sabot. Krasnickas states that they measure .392” each and weigh 79 grains a piece. The Phoenix Metallic Cartridge Company was located in South Coventry, Connecticut and was in business from 1872-1891. I have included a photo of the box top which is not included in this lot.
