Z5901 French Republic Officer’s Cuff Button
Description: Nicely gilted officer’s cuff button from France. This button pattern is the equivalent to the U.S. General Service buttons. It was used by all major land forces starting in the First Republic. This pattern was still in use by the War of 1812 in Europe by men of the Grande Armee.

This example has the open loop shank. It’s heavily gilted with very little wear. The earlier patterns would have the integrally cast and drilled birdcage shank.
