Z6005 British Royal Navy Coat Button (1825+)
Description: Nice, excavated coat size example of a British Royal Navy button. The face features a crown over a fouled anchor. This example has a perfect stand-up shank. This button face with the circular inner edge purportedly dates from 1825-1827 according to British websites. This would make sense as John Dickinson died in the early 1820’s and the company name was changed. As with most early Royal Navy buttons, this would have been used by several different ranks.
Backmark: "HAMMOND / TURNER & DICKINSON” rm with crown at top.
Measures: 22.13 mm
Recovered: Unknown
Reference: "Dating Buttons” Tice Pg. 154 (1790-1820)
