Z6009 French 81st Line Infantry Coat Button (1844-1871)
Description: Very nice one-piece convex button for the French 81st Line Infantry. This one has the later single loop shank. This example was manufactured by Trelon, Weldon & Weil of Paris, France. Tice states that this firm was in operation from around 1845 until slightly after the American Civil War. This style is commonly dug from Crimean War sites as well as those occupied by troops on up through the reign of Napoleon III.
