Z6150 Collins & Company M1855 Bayonet for Colt Special Model 1861 Rifle
Description: Nice bayonet manufactured by Collins & Company of Collinsville, Connecticut. These were manufactured for the Colt Special Model 1861 rifle during the Civil War. This bayonet measures 21” in overall length with an 18” blade. The inside of the muzzle ring measures .783” in diameter. The ricasso is marked with a clear "US” and the socket is marked "C&Co.” There is an additional inspector mark of "T” on the side of the shank or elbow. Nice overall piece with a shiny but slightly darkened patina. There is very light pitting throughout but mostly contained within the forward end of the blade. The inside of the socket remains unfinished with a light layer of rust.
