Z6352 Cut Down Model 1842 Harpers Ferry Musket Dated 1852
Description: Decent wall hanger or cut down M1842 musket manufactured at the Harpers Ferry Armory in 1852. This example was more than likely shortened after the war for use as a foraging gun. It is .69 and the barrel has been reduced to 34" in length. The stock has been shortened to 43.5" in length. The stock appears to have been cleaned and oiled at some point. It has a rich color with a few nominal dents and scratches. There is a little staining opposite the lock around the side plate. The ramrod has been shortened to 28" in length.

The lock is marked "HARPERS / FERRY / 1852" with an eagle over "US." No date is visible on the breech of the barrel. The side of the barrel is marked "VP over Eagle." The butt plate is marked "US" on the top. The metal is somewhat brown in places with a white finish coming through in areas. There is light pitting around the breech and on the butt plate.

There are a couple of options for a gun like this. It can be a wall hanger. The stock could be spliced to create a new gun with a few additional parts, or you can transfer the parts over to a new stock and start with the majority of the pieces. The lock mechanism is strong and works properly.

Here is a list of parts on this gun that could be used:
1. Lock Mechanism
2. Side Plate
3. Trigger Assembly
4. Middle Band Spring
5. Rear Band Spring
5. Butt plate and Screws
6. Breech Plug (Needs work to take it off)
8. Rear Band

Measures: 49.75" in length
