Description: Hard-to-find .58 rimfire with the desirable FVV&Co headstamp. The headstamp on this example is excellent compared to a lot of the other FVV&Co. cartridges. Fitch Van Vechten manufactured cartridges between 1864-1866. This cartridge would have been manufactured at the tail end of that time period for the early .58 conversion muskets. This example has one very small dent on the side of the case and one flat spot on the side of the nose. These were probably from manufacturing. There are segmented crimp lines and draw marks on the case which are a feature of FVV&Co. manufacturing. A hard .58 headstamped cartridge to track down!
