Description: A nice .42 rimfire cartridge for use with the .42 Allen & Wheelock drop breech or falling block single shot rifle. These single shot rifles were manufactured between 1860-1871. The No. 64 cartridge has a pointed bullet with two raised bands and a copper case. These were made by a few different companies such as Allen & Wheelock, Ethan Allen, Forehand and Wadsworth, USCCo, and U.M.C. to name a few. The examples with the two large belts and a deep groove are thought to have been manufactured by E. Allen or Forehand & Wadsworth. Nice example with a few spots and a small bump on the tip of the bullet.
