Z6646 .28 Cupfire Cartridge for Front-Loading Revolvers
Description: Decent example of the .28 cupfire cartridge for use with the Plant and Eagle Arms revolvers. These were originally patented by Willard C. Ellis and John N. White on July 12, 1859, as Patent No. 24, 726. The edge of the cup held the fulminate much like the rimfire cartridge. These front-loading cartridges allowed Ellis & White to circumvent the Rollin White and Smith & Wesson patents.

A decent Civil War era cartridge with the early flared mouth and no headstamp. Instead of the full circle cannelure on the case, this example has two crimps. There is a small bump on the edge of the case mouth.
