Z6651 .44 Short Rimfire by C.D. Leet
Description: Very nice and early .44 Short rimfire cartridge. This example is headstamped "C.D.L.” and was manufactured by Charles D. Leet of Springfield, Massachusetts. This is an early example with a pointed bullet with two cannelures and a copper case. Suydam states that "the first pistol to use the .44 short cartridge was the sturdy, aptly named Hammond "Bulldog” single shot of 1864.” He goes on to name a few other pistols that the .44 short could be used in such as the Remington derringers, D. Moore, Forehand & Wadsworth’s side-hammer, and the Pond "Army” revolver. This cartridge is in excellent shape and has a desirable early headstamp.
