Description: Scarce sectioned .45-85-400 Ward Burton cartridge. There was an entire series of these in the Philadelphia Exposition of 1876. This example is known as #110 of Drawer 4.
Lewis has this example listed under "Rim Primed & Misc.” cartridges section two "Miscellaneous Center Primed Musket and Carbine Cartridges.” He states No. 110 is a "Ward Burton caliber .45, Berdan type, made by Union Cartridge Company. Load 85 grains powder, 400 grain bullet, paper patched. 1872 tests. O-2.318, C-1.796, R-.755, H-.658, N-.612, M-.481, B-.462.” A hard example to find from the Philadelphia Exposition!
