Description: Nice Illinois state seal coat button. Illinois was the 21st state to join the Union in 1818. Albert states, "The present seal was placed in use in 1868. Excellent die work on this button. This is the variant with five stars in the lower row on the shield. This one has a late san serif backmark. The face has a nice bronze color.
Backmark: "(dot) SCOVILL MF’G CO (dot) / WATERBURY.CONN” dm with an outer ring of dots.
Measures: 22.75mm
