Z6728 .44 Short Rimfire Cartridge by Winchester (H)
Description: Very nice .44 Short rimfire cartridge manufactured by The Winchester Repeating Arms Company of New Haven, Connecticut. This example has a pointed flat nose bullet with a single cannelure and a copper case. Suydam states that "the first pistol to use the .44 short cartridge was the sturdy, aptly named Hammond "Bulldog” single shot of 1864.” He goes on to name a few other pistols that the .44 short could be used in such as the Remington derringers, D. Moore, Forehand & Wadsworth’s side-hammer, and the Pond "Army” revolver. Nice example with a clean case and lightly oxidized bullet.
