Z6861 MBA 12MM Gyrojet "Dummy” Rocket with Powder Metal Nozzle
Description: Nice example of a 12mm Gyrojet rocket with the patented "powder metal” three-port nozzle. The patent for the powder metal nozzle was awarded to MBA on December 31, 1968, as Patent No. 3,419,230. Its creation stemmed from the Manhattan Project at Los Alamos. The main benefit of the powder metal nozzle was forward thrust.
Nice example with a copper-plated steel case. The powder metal nozzle is roll crimped into place and has three curved ports. The nickel-plated primer is typically used on "dummy” cartridges which isn’t always the case.
