Z6876 U.S. Carbine Sling Swivel Hook

Description: Here is a very nice carbine swivel hook used by Federal cavalrymen. This was used in conjunction with the M1841 carbine sling. This is the longer version with the extension link between the bar and hook. The snap fully functions but could use a little oil where the spring slides along the frame. The snap clipped onto the "O” ring on the saddle bar which kept the firearm secure while allowing the cavalryman to keep control of the reins. This example has light spotted rust and is marked with a "1” on the inside of the snap hook. An excellent piece for any Civil War cavalry collection!
