Z6985 .56-50 Spencer Carbine Cartridge by Fitch Van Vechten
Description: Decent example of the .56-50 Spencer carbine rimfire cartridge manufactured by Fitch Van Vechten & Co of New York. These cartridges were used in conjunction with the Model 1865 Spencer carbine. It has a flat nose bullet and a copper case with three crimps on the side. This one has an oxidized bullet with a case that was cleaned at some point with some pitting. The headstamp is crystal clear which isn’t always the case with these. Nice example with your typical subpar manufacturing flaws of F.V.V&Co. which include long vertical draw marks and a crimping flaw on the case mouth.
Headstamp: Impressed "F.V.V&Co.”
