Description: Rare new primed empty case for the experimental .56-45 cartridge by Winchester. Foster states, "Somewhere around 1875 Winchester apparently had a new gun in mind, for there was developed a series of cartridges of peculiar nomenclature, the .56/45, .56/42, .50/40, and .50/38.” The full cartridge would have a round nose paper patched bullet with a 1.75” brass case, and brass primer.
