Description: Nice example of the .44 Extra-Long Howard rimfire shot cartridge. These were used in the .44 Whitney Howard lever-action rifles. The case was manufactured by The Phoenix Metallic Cartridge Company and the green shot sabot was manufactured by The American Metallic Cartridge Company. Hard-to-find example with an intact green sabot in decent shape. The copper case has four very small dents. The tip of the sabot has a small drop of sealant or glue where all the parts come together on the tip. There are quite a few variations of this cartridge to collect!
