Z7259 .40-90 Sharps Straight "Board Dummy Cartridge by W.R.A.Co.
Description: Nice .40-90 Sharps Straight "board dummy” cartridge by Winchester. These were used in the Remington – Hepburn No. 3 rifle. They first appeared in the 1884 Winchester catalogue and were gone by 1917. This example has a flat nose paper patched bullet, a 3.25” brass case, and a #1 oval brass primer. It has four holes punched into the casing on the board side as well as one punch crimp near the case mouth. There isn’t a wood rod insert on this example. The paper patch is heavily soiled on the outside and cleaner on the board side. The case retains quite a bit of the original lacquer with some spotting.
