Z7345 Published .54 Burnside Bullet Mold, Chancellorsville
Description: Scarce excavated mold for the .54 Burnside carbine. This item was recovered by Dean Thomas off of Mineral Springs Rd. in Chancellorsville, Virginia. Most of the .54 Burnside molds you see will cast a flat base projectile. This example has the cavity plug and casts the 1858 pattern ball with a dished base. Both handles are bent outwards on the end and one handle is bent slightly out of plane. The mold will partially open so you can view both cavity halves. This mold has heavy pitting to virtually no pitting. An excellent Civil War relic that is published!
Measures: 6.5” x 2.75”
Reference: "Round Ball to Rimfire” Thomas Vol. 2 Pg. 15 (Actual Item Published)
Recovered: Chancellorsville, Virginia, Mineral Springs Road by Dean Thomas
