Z7347 British Pewter "PN” Coat Button
Description: Gorgeous British "PN” marked one-piece pewter coat button. I don’t believe anyone has been able to positively identify the maker of these buttons, but they are recovered from sites dating from the French & Indian War up through the Revolutionary War. They aren’t specific to any area but are found up and down the east coast as well as England.
This example was recovered in South Carolina and may be a water recovery. The pewter is slick with a few small crusty spots. The "PN” on the back is clear and the shank is intact and slightly bent to the right. You can see the mold seam across the entire button and shank! The body is slightly wavy and appears slightly convex which is more than likely an issue stemming from the bent shank.
