Civil War .54 Burnside Carbine Cartridge
Description: Decent example of the Civil War .54 Burnside carbine cartridge. This cartridge design was patented by George Foster on April 10, 1860, and is listed under Patent No. 27,791. The "swell” around the case mouth held lubricant. These would have been used in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th Model carbines. This example is in decent shape. There aren’t any cracks around the case mouth. There are a few small dents on the case and one small flat spot on the side of the bullet’s nose.
