Z7588 Indian War Kepi Parts Fort Pembina North Dakota
Description: This group consists of several items recovered from the Fort Pembina privies. Fort Pembina was located just west of the Red River and was built to watch over the Sioux and to ensure the safety of those living along the Red River. The fort was completed in 1870/71 and caught on fire in 1895. Some of the troops assisted in suppressing a Fenian Raid into Canada. The privies were full of items dating from the Civil War up through the Indian War era.
This group contains original kepi pieces recovered from the privies. It includes a kepi visor, crown, and a partial sweatband. All pieces are leather and have been lightly cleaned. They could be straightened and cleaned a little more if desired. All three pieces come housed in a glass top riker case.
