Z7690 Aqua Belfast Ginger Ale Bottle (Fort Pembina)
Description: This is one of several items recovered from the Fort Pembina privies. Fort Pembina was located just west of the Red River and was built to watch over the Sioux and to ensure the safety of those living along the Red River. The fort was completed in 1870/71 and caught on fire in 1895. Some of the troops assisted in suppressing a Fenian Raid into Canada. The privies were full of items dating from the Civil War up through the Indian War era.
Nice aqua bottle with a rounded base and an applied top. The side of this example is embossed "BELFAST / GINGER / ALE.” This is an excavated bottle with a little haze. There are numerous air bubbles in the glass. A nice example that could be cleaned up a little better.
Measures: 8.5” in length
Recovered: Fort Pembina, Dakota Territory (Now North Dakota)
