Z7722 Eley’s Waterproof Central Fire No. 9 Percussion Caps
Description: Nice, japanned tin of No. 9 waterproof central fire primers manufactured by Eley of London. This example still has the green and black label on the top and the No. 9 label on the bottom. The top label has a few spots that are worn due to the raised letters "ELEY / LONDON” on the lid. These tins are very hard to date because they were used for a such a long time. However, I would guess that this tin predates 1874 due to the lack of Ltd. or Ld. on the label. There is a trademark dated 1886 by Eley that has a similar label. These were used with Colt percussion revolvers. A nice example that is full!
Measures: 1.5” x .75”
Reference: "Eley Cartridges” Harding
