Z7750 .30-06 Hollifield Dotter Cartridge (F A 3 15)
Description: Very nice .30-06 Hollifield Dotter training or practice cartridge. These were used with the Hollifield Dotter attachment system designed by Horatio Hollifield. This attachment for small arms fell under US Patent No. 867728 and was awarded on October 8, 1907.
This system allowed soldiers to train or practice sighting with a small arm and not use live ammunition. The cartridges have a spring-loaded rod on the inside. When fired, they would punch a hole in the paper target.
This example is in excellent shape and has three holes drilled in the side of the tinned brass case. There are six flutes around the case along with a turned brass bullet. The rod and spring are made of steel. A very nice example!
