Z7767 US Model 1874 Type III Mess Kit Meat Can

Description: Nice example of an Indian War mess kit known as the M1874 Type III Meat Can. This example is in decent shape with a few small dents from service. There are some spots where light rust has come through the tin plating. The locking bar is marked "US” toward the end of the handle. The inside of the lid has plenty of knife marks showing this piece was used. The outside top of the lid has a personalized checkerboard pattern. A nice piece used on up through the Spanish American War.
