Z7880 Indian War Footed Medical Beaker (Fort Pembina)
Description: This is one of several items recovered from the Fort Pembina privies. Fort Pembina was located just west of the Red River and was built to watch over the Sioux and to ensure the safety of those living along the Red River. The fort was completed in 1870/71 and caught on fire in 1895. Some of the troops assisted in suppressing a Fenian Raid into Canada. The privies were full of items dating from the Civil War up through the late Indian War era.
This item was recovered in a pit directly behind the hospital at Fort Pembina. This item is etched and has several issues. A portion of foot has broken off. The remaining portions of the beaker are intact but in two pieces. There are a few sections of clear tape holding the remaining pieces together. This example has an iron pontil on bottom of the footed base. An excellent Indian War medical relic with exceptional provenance!
