Z7883 .44 Henry Rimfire "Buyback” Cartridge
Description: Here is a hard-to-find variant of the .44 Henry rimfire, pointed, short case cartridge. This example has a nipped or trimmed nose. This example was one that was originally sold to the government during the American Civil War. After the war was over, surplus .44 Henry cartridges were sold back to the original suppliers. Most of the Henry cartridges manufactured after the war had flat noses. The early versions which were purchased were then updated to flat nosed variants. This example has the early segmented crimp and was more than likely manufactured by N.H.A. or Crittenden & Tibbals. A scarcer example than your typical early Henry! A nice example with some black stains on the copper case.
