Z7943 Rare .50 Springfield Carbine Cartridge HS: 50 CAL I.E.P.#121
Description: Rare .50 carbine rimfire cartridge manufactured at the Springfield Armory in 1865. This cartridge has a 400-grain, .50 bullet, with 60-grains of powder. This is the cartridge that ultimately became known as the .56-50 Spencer rimfire cartridge. These were used in the M1865 Spencer, the Palmer Carbine, and the Triplett & Scott carbines. The lead, flat nose bullet is slightly oxidized, and the case has spotting where an old label was at one point. A very rare early variant with what I would say is the 2nd hardest headstamp to find on the .56-50.
Headstamp: Impressed "50 / CAL” on a depressed head with four tick marks
Measures: OAL 1.612” CL 1.181” RD .643” HD .562” CM .521” BDaCM .498” Wgt. 476-grains
