Z8146 Patented A.B. Kay Shot Concentrator 1874
Description: Nice early 10 Ga. shot concentrator or shot cartridge. This example is manufactured under Allan B. Kay’s US Patent No. 148,467 which was awarded on March 10, 1874. The concentrator has a uniform body made of coated linen. The base is solid with a built-in wad, and the shot is held in place with a green screen. The side is marked, "A.B.KAY & CO / Pat. Mar. 10, 1874, / 10G 7.” These could be used in both breech and muzzle loading guns. This example is in nice condition with light soiling and a legible stencil. The middle of the green screen is broken but it still holds the No. 7 lead shot in place. An excellent example of an early concentrator!
