Z8383 .45 Colt Multi-Ball Cartridge H. Nowlan Patent (1879)
Description: Nice example of a .45 Colt compound bullet or multi-ball cartridge. Henry J. Nowlan was awarded US Patent No. 221,249 on November 4, 1879, for an improvement in projectiles for small arms. He created a compound bullet or multi-ball made of four pieces. The nose is split into three pieces and there is an additional piece on the bottom or rear.
This example is in very nice shape. You can clearly see the section projectile. The case has a few spots with the ghost of a collection number on the side. It has a round nose bullet, a drawn brass case, and a copper primer.
